Welcome baby Chaaya!

On May 31st, 2013, at 9:03 PM, we welcomed Chaaya Lourdes Sharma into the world! She was delivered via C-section at The Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, the nation's first hospital and also where Nikhil and Rivan, Chaaya's cousins and bodyguards, were born. Her delivery was not easy (just ask mom) but we are so thrilled that she came out healthy and perfect. Fingers and toes (and ears) all accounted for!

The word 'Chaaya' means shadow or shade in Sanskrit and Hindi and has always been a favorite of Swathi's.  Chaaya's middle name, Lourdes, is shared by Swathi's grandmother, Lourdamma, who helped raise Swathi and Arthi. We hope that Chaaya will grow up to be as sweet, loving, and open-minded as her namesake.

Although we are only in Philadelphia for a year, while Swathi is finishing her training, this city will always hold a special place in our hearts. We are excited to return and show Chaaya where she first sprouted!
